Hi All,

I realise it's not original, and therefore probably not for the purists, but is there any interest out there in forming a buying group (ie 20-30 people) so that we can collectively approach a moulded automotive carpet supplier to create a carpet mould for the 105 series Alfa floorpan?

I'm happy to do the leg work, assuming there are enough other interested parties out there. I've spoken to a couple of suppliers, and they advise they would create a 105 carpet mould if they have 20-30 firm orders for carpet sets.

Regards,

Nick

Thanks for the interest and feedback.

I'm thinking of companies like Trufit here in Melbourne... no vested interest/relationship on my part. They sell full moulded carpet sets (ie front & rear) for $125 (loop pile), $139 (plush pile), $179 (super plush pile), $280 (replica loop) and $330 for custom colours. They have a pretty wide range of standard colours. I've previously fitted one of their Commodore carpet sets, and was very pleased with the quality and fit.

I've spoken to Trufit, and they're going to get back to me with a minimum order quantity to justify production of a 105 floor pan carpet mould. As mentioned, a company in Adelaide I also spoke to thought about 20-30 orders would probably be enough.

As for the donor car from which they would make the mould... my 1969 GT1300 Junior (ie 105.31) is currently under restoration, so I'm happy for that to be used as a guinea pig. Does anyone happen to know if the floor pan changed at all from the early step nose 105s to the later smooth nose 105s? I'm guessing not, but I'd be interested in feedback.

By the way, moulded carpets usually come without cutouts for the gearshift, handbrake lever, seat mounting points, pedals, etc. You cut these when installing, and it's not that difficult. However, I'll talk to Trufit specifically about how best to accommodate the 105's standing brake and clutch pedal assembly on RHD cars.

So would it be possible if you Nick are the project manager here - that we cut a small piece of our dead carpet and compare to what they might have in stock? Would that be the best way forward ? I'd like mine to look like this:

njh1964

Hi Pancho,

Supplying a sample sounds like a good idea... I'll ask Trufit when they call back.

Hopefully, a moulded carpet would come up like your photo, but without the seams, joints and overlaps of the stock multi-piece carpet sets.

Cheers,

Nick

Ok... to make tracking numbers easier, if you're interested, please insert "+?" in your reply. For example, the next new interested party will be "+6".

It may just have been available at the time, who could say for sure.
Factory colours, options, fittings, etc seem to be highly variable.

...besides, I like it.

Well, I can say for sure ...........if you knew anything about your spider you would know that spiders between the years of 66 to 69 (osso di seppia) were fitted with carpet only over the drive and and transmission tunnel and rubber mats in sections everywhere else . Your factory picture lovely as it is , doesnt tell the whole story .

So will the carpets fit the series 1 1750 GTV. The pics are for an earlier model like 1600 eh? If the Series 1 GTV is included then I will in for a set.

Lindon

njh1964

Hi Lindon,

My car is a 1969 GT1300 Junior (ie step-nose 105.31). I'm assuming that the floorpan is the same across the 105 coupe range - start to finish. If that is in fact the case (any thoughts, anyone?), then the moulded carpet set should fit all 105 coupes.

We're now up to 7 interested parties... maybe half a dozen more and we can get a supplier to commission a 105 mould.

Regards,

Nick
