Hello all,

I'm new here. I'm not an Alfa owner (I'm into French cars) but seeking advice/help from the Alfa community.

I'm a member of the "AussieFrogs" French car forum and was directed here by fellow French enthusiasts there who also follow the Italian marques.

So, my query – I have a friend here in Melbourne who has to sell his much loved '73 Alfa Romeo Spider. He is very ill and not able to handle the sale of the car himself so I am helping him out. I'm looking for advice on how much the car might be worth?
Some basic info on the car: Spider 2000, 1973, original RHD Australian dealer import. 150,000 genuine miles. He is third owner. Engine, gearbox, clutch, steering box, radiator - all rebuilt in last 40,000 miles. Fitted with good Michelins on Momo Vega wheels.  Reupholstered 2 years ago. Body straight but rust as follows:
a) rust bubbles in the bottom sills of both doors
b) in the bottom of the front panel between the door and the wheel arch
c) in the seam where the rear right guard joins the panel below the rear window.
Photos detail this.

There is also a section on the bottom of the drivers door which has been patch painted. Photo shows detail.  Body work all straight. No dents or scrapes. Paint chip on boot lid. Refer photos for detail of all the above – and more. Photos at http://www.mediafire.com/i/?wjj4na9r26tj3k4

Car is currently in Williamstown (Victoria).

Any and all advice will be appreciated.   Once I have completed research I'll be advertising - but am happy to hear now form anyone who might be interested in buying and/or knows of someone who might be interested

I can be contacted at iwsmsith@netspace.net.au, and by phone at 03 9813 3015.

It looks nice, but I figure if there is visible rust bubbles in the sills then the rust will have spread - my coupe had a few visible bubbles but had lots of rust in the sills and A/B pillas.  This would limit the sale price if it were bought by an Alfa enthusiast.  My guess?  Probably around $10-12k.
