If those guys can't help you, it may pay to look around for a good trimmer and pick out your own carpet type and colour.

The surface of the carpet is as much important as the back of it. Moulded carpets are often impregnated with a total sealer underneath. Now that's good as it keeps the sand and dust out of the underlay but it makes it impossible to move air through the carpet when it is time to vacuum it. That means you can never get the crap out of the fibres properly unless you remove it and shake the living daylights out of it.

Best chose a carpet that backing allows air to move through it..unfortunately the original Alfetta carpet is of the sealed type and I don't much care for it.

Recently had a look around for a set for my GTV 6, and after checking with the usual suppliers on-line and in the car mags, I found that very few can supply early Alfa carpets.

I was also pretty keen to see the quality and pile choices in the flesh, rather than over the net. Came across Tru-fit carpets in Dandenong, who have Alfetta moulds.

They have a trade counter so you can buy on site. Also have small samples you can take out to the car and match up. Half day turn-around as well.
Also had full range of sound deadening material including a version of dynamat that's meant to be easier to work with
Pretty reasonable on price- I think they wanted around $130 for plush pile

These carpets are sealed on the back as well, which I assume keeps the carpet in its moulded form. I can live with that, given the car is not a daily driver.

Checked various forums re Tru-fit and responses were mixed, but they were as well for places like Knox carpets etc as well

Plan to get mine in the next 2 weeks so can't tell you how they fit.

I retrimmed my Alfetta last year using Tru Fit carpet. Very reasonably priced and not to hard a job. All you need is a stanley knife and a rubber mallet.

They also sell the following which maybe of interest.

1. Carpet mats , black with either red or gray "Alfa Romeo Script" I think they were only about $50.00 per set . I tried to get an order together last year  for the club shop but it didn't get off the ground, could be worth having another look at as the unit price comes down quite a bit. I think the proprietor indicated that he used to do it for the club.

2. Sound deadner   . If you pull all the trim out you will probably find the old underlay is pretty ratty , espically in the boot. He sells a newer product that the V8 supercars use . Considerably lighter and more effective

If the carpet is only faded and isnt torn you get excellent results removing it and re-dying it. Use a wheelie bin and some die from a textile store. Yes Im cheap!

That's a bloody good suggestion. I like that kind of thinking. Wheelie bins also make good wheel barrows around the garden.

Hey Henry re the dying of your carpet, X2 for having a crack at that, I have done that in the past with the carpet in my Fiat 124 sport as it had faded to a kind of dull purple.  The dye I used is called RIT and I bought at Woolies or Coles.  Cheap as chips and worked a real treat, as the carpet is now jet black. I left it soaking dye for a day, then hung it out to dry for another day, and after that re-fitted it.  Dave

I thought I'd revive this rather than start a new thread - has anyone found a supplier for alfetta *sedan* carpet - or alternatively has anyone bought the GT(V) carpet (plus a bit more?) to got it to fit? I tried every supplier listed here and a few more but they had only the coupe...

I'm in the same boat. I want carpet for my Alfetta Seden and short of getting it custom made, I cant find anyone who can help.

However , there is this guy on Ebay with new GTV carpets for sale.

I always thought GTV and Sedan actually had the same floor pan, and the cleaver folks at Alfa just made it lok as thought ehy were differnt (ie longer doors on the GTV, front seats sit a bet further back etc...)

Anyway - here is his link.

I'm going to ask if he has Sedan carpets, but I would really like to know what the differneces (if any) are.

I haven't done anything yet but had similar thoughts. Depending how much overlap /excess between front/back halves might well get away with coupe carpet. I've asked trufit (your ebay link) and a couple of other "usual suspects" re the sedan and none have it.

Remember that that the wheelbase on the sedans is 100mm longer.

Like when AROCA Vic had its Christmas Party and Billy Kart Derby at Rob Roy Hill Climb many years ago?  I recall a certain Club Member modifying his wheelie bin and adding a bow and stern and superstructure with funnels creating the shape of the Titanic with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet peering out from the portholes!  I'm sure there's a video around somewhere!
