Fast Eddie

I finally got to round my Alfa ownership up to 10 this weekend with the acquisition of my latest - an '86 GTV-6.

Everything works and it drives well.  A bit of rust in all 4 lower wheel arch gutters, nears the sills but hopefully repairable with section replacement for not too big $.

2 x owners since new, the last for 23 years who is a long standing AROCA WA member and known by several Alfisti Nationally.

It has even done the Nullabor run several times.

Sure is, and proud to say so!

Tom has been a club stalwart for decades, so i am delighted to take over this car and to give it its next 2-3 decades of TLC and use.

I like your style Fast Eddie, buying a gtv6 and telling your wife that it is a tow car for your boat out front.(pic one). Never seen one before.

 :P  ::)
yes, too true. I do have a bad habit or history of letting them go too quickly and usually after spending a small fortune on them.

This one wont be turned into a pseudo race car but will be maintained and used as a daily driver with improvements to standard equipment - shocks, bushes etc made as required.

Gotta deal with the rust first to stop it getting much worse but without doing a full resto.  Finding someone to do even a basic bog job on an Alfa in Perth is difficult.  Reluctant to do it myself though, i have no patience nor a steady hand.

So, yes the intention is to keep this one...

i didnt even need to do that...i swapped my wife's car (Astra) for the GTV6!

Not my boat sadly, that is the neighbours accross the road and i doubt the Alfa could tow that!
The towbar will be removed ASAP!

Welcome to the world of GTV6 ownership.

Had a great run with your folks and their new Guilia Super on the weekend as well.

We were talking last night at Melbourne club night how the GTV6 is likely to be the next 105 in terms of desirability to find a good one, and long term value.

So sort the rust, and enjoy the sweet noise.

You need to find a tunnel near your place so when  you're feeling a bit down you can take her up to 4000 rpm through there and generate that instant GTV6 smile :-)

Congrats

Shane

so far i still have only driven it from the previous owner's home to mine on Sunday, but it is still putting a smile on my face from the experience.  i am really looking forward to enjoying this car.

A service is priority no.1. nothing elses seems wrong with it touch wood, then the rust.

But, rust repair is the biggest challenge in Perth.  Not too many do it, even fewer on Alfa's and they have a 6-18mth back log and i dont want a full bare shell resto, just a short term 'spot fix' but have no patience so reluctant to try it myself.

Still, the lower trim panels hide the rust, so i can just drive it and ignore it (sort of) but that probably isnt the best mid to long term solution...
