Replacement keys

I have recently moved house and have had the misfortune of losing my keys. Has anyone has to order new keys from the factory and how do you go about it. Is it necessary to go through the dealer and pay a substantial fee?
Would really appreciate any advice.

You could try our sponsors, Marranello Pursang Motors in Brunswick, Monza Motors in Bayswater or Mauceri Motors in Clayton, i am sure they have dealt with lost key issues before, i suppose it depends in what suburb you are closest to, tell us how you get on as we all lose our keys at one stage, Colin.

do you have the keycode number, you can get a key cut from that that will let you get into the car but not start it. but if you have a broken one (the key) you can use that fob to start the car, there is a topic on here that i started with it, ill try to find it and link it in.
these keys can be done at any good key joint, also if the key is from i think a later 147/156 they are a different style and these are also avail from good locksmiths

Unfortunately I only had one key when purchasing the car. I will contact a sponsor tomorrow. Being new to Alfa's I need all the advice I can get. Just love the little 156 selespeed Ti, it's so much fun everyday.

Just to keep this thread alive my son has a 156 ( 2002 JTS)  & this morning Father Christmas brought my daughter a (2004 147). Although neither of them have  broken or lost the key i feel confident it is about to happen.

On both cars key block the little retractable clip (the little metal clip ring ) that you would normally  use to attatch to your other keys etc is broken. This means that the car key is always un attached and waiting to be lost.  Any other 932 series people had this problem  or suggest a fix.

Get a second hand key from an Alfa wrecker, or find someone who is wrecking one on Ebay and get one from there, pull them apart and put your key and electronics in the shell of the recently purchased second hand one, or have a look on ebay and see how the 'bling' replacement key shells look, carbon fibre to coloured keyed to your car, but make sure it has the metal ring included or go down to your local Alfa dealer and purchase a new one for i beleive a reasonable $700!,

You could also pull the 2 shells apart and see if there is any metal you could drill thru to see if you could attach a key ring to, don't just drill thru, as you will go thru some electronics, then you will up the creek without a paddle, Colin.
