Hey guys,

My 2001 Alfa Spider has been garraged most of its life, but in the last 3 years it has had to live outdoors.

The plastic rear window was as-new 3 years ago, but it has quickly faded. There is a bit of green staining on it too. I don't think the green is plant matter as it doesnt wipe off easily.

Should I get a new window or should I give it a really good clean?

Regular car wash detergent doesnt do squat. Is there a good plastic polish that will restore it?

colcol

You can get plastic polishes for headlight and tail lights instrument covers, etc and they are very good at removing scratches and grunge, BUT if it is discoloured and gone yellow or milky, then the problem is not on the surface, but through the material, i think you will have to replace it, as ever let us know how you get on, Colin.

I haven't come across a plastic polish that makes a visible difference, if anyone has I would be interested too.

The plastic polishes that i have used make a big difference, they remove scratches and make the plastic all new and shiny again, such as head and tail lights, instruments, nothing porus such as mouldings and bumper bars, they are good on smooth surfaces, BUT they won't remove discoloring, Colin.

What you need is a brand called vu plex. Visit final inspection http://www.finalinspection.com.au/
Damian is good and can help you out for a DIY job on what would be the best products to use.

Does anyone know where to by a replacement real window for the 2002 generation of the spiders?
It's a zip in zip out number so I was hoping there might be someone on line I could just by the part from and fix it at home.

Any suggestions would be welcome!
