Hi all. I drove into the MCG Sat night, put window down to pay, and that was it. A towel over the door stopped water getting in. It moved down slightly but not up. Even by the grabbing the 1cm of window available and trying to pull it up nothing happens. It moves down and I can get it to move ever so slightly when I push the switch to go up, but then nothing. It does make a momentary noise when pushing the switch but then silence. My local auto Elec is closed for the week as are Maranello Pur Sang. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please note that my mechanical knowledge is subzero :-). I do possess hammers and screwdrivers :-)
thanks in anticipation, Joe

Hey Joe, first of all check the fuses, if the power window fuse is not blown, take it out and give it a clean, that is the fuse and the fuse holder, and then try it and see if the motor is making any noise, Colin.

Thanks Colin, I've just tried that now, even swapped fuses with the passenger window. The only noise is a very slight one. In the past when I had problems I could hear the motor trying to raise the window and failing but I was still able to raise the window by pulling it up. This time appears different but I can't even budge the window by pulling on it.

Hello Joe
My 164Q started doing this about 3 months back with both front windows, drivers was a bit worse than the passenger side, seemed to get worse every passing week, checked the basics then just put a whole new motor unit in, now they are operating like brand new again, flies up and down like superman!
Fairly easy job, remove door trim, lower window to bottom, disconnect two bolts and seperate window from motor frame then lift window up and remove motor unit and replace, i have a motor unit available if you want one, just send me a PM and i will freight it down to you.
Thankyou VeeSix.

I have stuffed about with my motor and slides and cables and switches and relays and fuses, and the window still takes a lifetime to go up, so you reckon a new motor is the go, got a motor for a drivers side 33?, Colin.

Hello Colin
Thankyou for your reply
I am not sure about the 33s Colin, my last 33 was a 16V Permanant 4 and that was sold about 5 years ago, even when good i can not remember the 33 electric windows being all that fast like the 164 type, but i guess as you have mentioned and tried all the basics the only other option is to try another motor unit
I should have a 33 motor if your interersted, would you be able to e-mail me a photo so i can match up the right one for you?
Thankyou VeeSix  :)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but due to my total lack of mechanical knowledge was too scared to pull door apart :-). Took it to my local trustworthy auto elec (not the black car again Joe), regulator totally stuffed. $200 later everything working fine.
