Hi Everyone,

I currently own a 1993 SZ Zagato in japan but will be moving back to australia later in the year.

Unfortunately I am going to have to sell it. But was wondering what the resale value of the zagato is in australia. I have had a good look around but cant seem to find any for sale in aus.

Thanks for your help

There are 6 here now. (1x NSW,2xVic, 2x Tas and another on the way to Vic).  Two years ago there were none. In WA the laws are different to eastern states and you maybe able to drive it before it is 25 years old. BTW there were no 1993 SZs made. The last one was in 1991. RZs were subsequenty made.

What is it worth? Depends alot on condition and Kms. They would be a difficult sell at the moment. Once 25 years old a different story. $25 -$30k for a poor example - $50k+ for a mint concourse car.

If you have owned the car for more that 1 year you maybe able to bring the car back as  apersonal import. Otherwise Marc Berard can organise to bring the car over for you.
Best Regards

Ohhhhh  ;)....yes, I had a PM that also corrected me on the nbr in NSW. 2 confirmed, but perhaps 3 is molto exciting! The more the better! They are great cars! The quintessential Alfa Romeo car - daring, brilliance and stuipidy all rolled into one incarnation...
I die happy!  ;D

I recently brought back a car after having lived in Japan for a few years.
If you haven't done it before, the process is relatively easy and I can recommend someone in Nagoya that I used and did a great job. Several people I work with have also used him with no hiccups.
PM if you want details.
All the best.

So, has anyone managed to register one to drive on the road?

The one that I've seen in Tassie is registered for road use in LHD.

If any owners need a place to keep it here for registration, I'd be more than willing  ;D

The laws differ from state to state. In Tassie, you can register to drive now. Here in Vic you need to wait 25 years before they can be put on club plates. So the 1989 cars will be eligible in 2014 through to the 1991 cars in 2016.

The USA EPA/DOT laws have a 25 year limit too and I expect our USA Alfisti bretheren are waiting with baited breath. There is a BB link on the topic.

Does anyone know what the rules are here in SA? I have a feeling it would be impossible to register an SZ here.
