Where the switch is connected to the housing, look under and you will see a round sort of plug.
You will have to turn it anti clockwise, like undooing a nut,by hitting with a punch and hammer,or hacksaw through the plug and housing,to make a screwdriver slot,so it can be undone.
Some are already loose, and some are a pain.
Then you will have to remove the plug from the end of the wires,so you can withdraw the switch from the housing.

Robert, thanks for the advice. So it is basically a head-less screw onto which a slot must be engraved for its removal, I will try this weekend.

Thats right Kartone.

But before you remove it,,do the toggle switch test first.
And a relay on the ign switch works wonders also.

Cool Jesus

Kartone, I bet your starting to see the wonders of relays (and lack thereof) in Alfa electricals pre '90s. :P

Cool Jesus, going through the process right now of installing a fused relay per headlight (total four) in the engine bay and an ignition switch relay.

As anyone done it this way ? The positive feed to the ignition switch will be spliced, part continuing through the ignition switch to provide a control signal to a relay, part redirected through the aformentioned relay and onto the fuses busbar.

Kartone, just noticed that I missed your last post here. How did you go with the starter relay? Do you need a diagram?
