Despite recent changes to the organisational structure of 'Turismo Tasmania 2012' over the 2011 Christmas period, it is my pleasure to advise that the Italian Car Enthusiasts Of Tasmania (ICE) are definitely still involved in the organisation of 'Turismo Tasmania 2012'.

Our small Organising Committee of 4 has made significant progress. Registrations for the event have now closed. The Committee actually had to choose to  do so because of the overwhelming number of registration inquiries it began receiving after the formal Registration Forms were released.

The Committee felt it crucial to cap the event at 45 cars and 95 people to ensure the logistics of so many cars touring at once would not impact upon the enjoyment of the event for participants. That cap was reached in a matter of weeks and 'Turismo Tasmania 2012' is now fully booked out with all fees paid.

Several supporting sponsors have now been confirmed, an State Government 'Events Tasmania' Touring Grant has been received and a major sponsor is about to be announced. This sponsor is so interested in the concept and philosophy of Turismo Tasmania that they have expressed interest in our proposal for the event concept to be opened to all classic car marques and run on an annual basis in Tasmania.

The entire Turismo route around the state has been very carefully planned, finalised and test driven twice. Numerous quality restaurants, cafes, sites and experiences that only locals know how to access, will be enjoyed during the tour. Several wonderful, authentic Tasmanian experiences have also been organised to compliment the 4 day program.

Accommodation is confirmed at 'The Charles' in Launceston for two nights and 'Wrest Point' in Hobart for two nights. The design of our magnificent Turismo program and tour guide is almost finalised and will, we believe, set a benchmark for all such future events. Quintessential Tasmanian product and unique items are planned for inclusion in the Turismo Registrants Gift Pack.

We have also recently upgraded our website which I would refer you to for all current and future information - www.alfaromeoturismotasmania2012.com.au  Aside from numerous 105's (and Spiders are the predominant cars) we have two magnificent pre-war Alfa Romeos participating in the event. Registrants are coming from as far away as Western Australia and the Whitsundays to be involved - amazing !

The 'Bella Alfa Romeo' display, organised as a pre-promotion of Alfa Romeos in Tasmania before Turismo starts, is currently being held at the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania, Launceston, and has been very successful attracting extraordinary media interest - see www.namt.com.au

To all those who have registered - thank you for doing so and for having so much confidence in the event. We can assure you it will be an outstanding tour of the highest standards. We look forward very much to welcoming you.

Tasmania awaits !
