Hi everyone, just an introduction. I am now the proud owner of a very sweet Australian delivered '75 spider, having brought her back from Melbourne to Hobart on the weekend.
I also have been restoring a '63 Morris Major Elite (don't say WHY!!). You will be interested to know that a lot of BMC cars including the Elite and Wolseleys have been labelled as Farinas as they claim to have Farina input in the fin style wings.
The Elite lets me get my hands dirty and is very easy to work with (put a conrod through the block). The spider hopefully will give me plenty of driving pleasure.
As far as sourcing parts. Are there any good local suppliers of parts? I see lots of US sites, but if possible I would like to support locals. I currently need a couple of door check straps and a passenger visor and fittings. Will post photos when I manage to organise Tassie registration as I need to fix a horn that seems a bit temperamental.
Cheers
Rhys

Congrtuations on your 105 purchase.

Have a look at the sponsors page of the recent Turismo Tasmania.  They have a 105 parts supplier.

Also on our club home page, Monza Motors is a well known Victorian service provider and they also have new and old parts.

Hi Rhys, I am wondering if I might have seen your spider, or not yet but either way good to have you on board and one more from Tassie.

Re: local suppliers of parts for 105s there are quite a number, and most advertise through AROCA in the magazine/websites etc.  Apart from Monza, a couple of other well known suppliers include Milano Spares in Thomastown (Melbourne), talk to Marc, and also Turin Imports in South Aus.  Pancho who frequently posts on this forum and the AlfaBB also is a supplier of NOS Alfa Parts, largely centered around 105 stuff.  There is a site in WA who provides 105 parts and in Sydney various options.

Overseas in the UK, there are a bunch of very well known suppliers such as Classic Alfa (run by Richard Norris), Alfaholics (Max and Richard Banks), EB Spares (Brian ?) and Highwood Motor Co (Chris Appleyard).   All are great in terms of what they have, delivery is fast and costs are reasonable, all have websites.

There are also places in the US like Centreline and IAP, though I have never personally had any dealings with them.

Apart from these, Ebay, and a number of suppliers in Europe also can be worth checking out.  In terms of local mechanics in Hobart, your best options are Fogarty Automotive (Steve Caplice), Autocraft (Graham Kershaw), Vinaka (Alfa/Fiat dealers -  Monty Reading) and Eurotech (Simon Jansen).  Also check out Club Motori Italia's website as we are based in Hobart and put on a range of events across the year. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help.
My car is the one that was advertised on the front page of unique cars. I dropped it off at the auto electricians as the horn (momo wheel) operates only when the wheel is pointed in a certain direction! Probably a simple fix but they have had the car longer than I have (hope to have her back tomorrow). Thanks David for the suggestions on local mechanics, I will have her checked over after registration. I am keen to tag in with Club Motori Italia when I get organised (already involved with Post Vintage Car Club). Thanks John for the link to the Turismo sponsors.
Cheers
