OK so now that my brakes are better I would like to look at the fuel system.

Ive been told that I dont have a fuel filter, which apparently is a regulator all in one. Is this located at the rear or in the engine bay and does anyone have some pics of theirs on a 2L GTV? I am in the process of buying some book/manuals but until they arrive then I am working blind.

Also my fuel sender is flaky so I thought I would replace that aswell, and look at rebuilding the carbs as they probably havent been touched either.

Can someone confirm these are the parts I am after and is the price ok? Is there anyone in AUS that stocks them?

I know my car is running rich so hopefully the filter/reg sorts that out.

Thanks again guys.

If your filter /reg is ok then you can just buy the filter and rubber diaphram seal/gasket (which perishes over time) save some cash. Sender is a different story.

The standard fuel filter is a filter and regulator combined.  It is located in the engine bay on the drivers side towards the front underneath the air filter.  There should be a small bracket with 2 M6 captive nuts in it hanging off the side of the engine bay very close to the distributor.

It is very unlikely that the lack of a regulator is making the car run rich (what makes you think that it is?).  In fact it is more likely to be ignition timing, and whilst it's a good idea to rebuild the carbies there is very little that can actually go wrong with them.  The idle mixture adjustment screws can make a difference, but this is only at very small throttle openings, the rest of the mixture control is pretty much set by jets, air correctors and emulsion tubes that don't change or wear out.  That said float valves can become faulty (stick or not seal) and the float level should be checked.  One saying my dad and I live by when chasing engine running problems is "I've never met a fuel problem that wasn't electrical!"

Both the items you list are the correct ones, prices seem pretty good also
72' 105 2000 GTV Red (tarmac rally/race car)
74' 105 2000 GTV Blue (road car)
68' 105 1600 Giulia Super White (Not sure yet)
01' Nissan Pathfinder (Tow car/Alfa support vehicle)

pancho..I would do that, but it seems the previous owner(s) saw fit to remove it all together!

Colin, this I was told was the reason why its running rich (by an alfa garage..it could be a combination of things), just to much fuel into the carb in the first place? It runs ok but you can smell it in the cabin and after a long drive its almost like its in your clothes. That makes it sound probably worse than it is but you get the idea.

Ignition timing hey..that sounds like alot more reading!

Thankyou for the location, Im driving it down to Hobart tomorrow night so once I am settle ill order those parts.

Rebuilding carbs will be next one the list..well perhaps after the window reg and heater box  :o

So no stockists in AUS? Just thought id ask before ordering. Lastly the glass bowl type is ok..anything "better"?

Thanks a million guys.
