Was chatting with a fellow forum member recently and we started the 'dream garage' conversation, thought it might be a bit of fun on here (not hear Evan  ;) )

OK, rules;
Budget – This is the one that everyone argues about, so why don't we have 2.  One is semi-realistic @ $100k and the other is a bit more....ambitious @ $500k.  Take your pick, do one, do the other, do both.

3 Cars – 1 daily driver (with some form of practicality would be nice), 1 race car, 1 weekend toy.

Spend as much or as little on each as you want, but you must have one of each and must come in or around budget.  Why a budget when it's a 'fantasy garage', well if we didn't have that everyone would pick – Ferrari 458, Red Bull RB8, Bugatti Veyron.

Perhaps post some links for those of us that are curious ;)  Oh, and ongoing racing budgets or maintenance costs don't come into it.

Here is mine (for this week, mine changes on a REGULAR basis!);

$100k budget. (I came in a shade over at $103, but cost of race car could vary wildly!)

Daily Driver: 2010 Alfa Romeo 159 JTD Ti
Here's why: Would prefer a wagon, Diesel has a bag load of torque, a good practical every day car at a reasonable price.
How Much: $33,000
Link: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/alfa-romeo-159-2010-12878131?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294967249 4294951398 4294739603&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,35000~1|Year:2007,Max&sort=Year

Race Car: 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta
Here's why: Historic Alfa's are great, you can run in Club events, 6 Hours, Group S, Veloce Racing Assoc events, and if you were super keen you could run in Targa events too
How much: $40,000
Link: none

Weekend Toy: 1982 Porsche 911 SC
Here's why: Good honest fun weekend car
How much: $30,000
Link: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/porsche-911-1982-12000332?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=9&eapi=2&__N=1246 1247 1252 1282 4294963765 1216 245&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,30000~1|Year:Min,1990&sort=Default

$500k budget. (I came in @ $495)

Daily Driver: 2011 Maserati Quattroporte GTS Sportline
Here's why: 4 doors (2 kids!), luxury, bloody quick
How Much: $215,000
Link: http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/maserati-quattroporte-2011-13062752?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=11&eapi=2&__N=1216 55 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294965360 4294680278&silo=Stock&Range=Price:100000,Max~1&sort=default

Race Car: 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo GT3
Here's why:  I love sports cars.  I could change my mind on this car on a daily basis, Mosler, Porsche GT3, Viper.  Could do Bathurst 12 hour, Dubai 24hr etc.  With this budget, could perhaps go an older Group C Sports Car (not touring car!) but most of those are POA which tells me maybe budget isn't enough!
How much: $195,000
Link: http://www.my105.com/ListingDetails/tabid/65/p/6/cid/527/id/3260/Default.aspx

Weekend Toy: 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera
Here's why: I have 2 other Italian machines in the garage already.....
How much: $85,000
Link: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/porsche-911-carrera-1974-12818827?base=1216&vertical=Car&eapi=2&page=1&sort=Price&cr=2&__N=1246 1247 1252 1282 4294963765 1216&silo=Stock&Range=Price:Min,90000~1|Year:Min,1990

Ahm, ok I will take the bait Phil, one slight problem, restricting myself to just 3 cars is a bit of a problem, as my hit list read desired vrs reality is generally a bit bigger than 3 cars.

However, to play by the rules and working on the $500K budget, right for the daily driver:

Alfa GT 3.2  (available say for around $20K)  Daily driver

Porsche 911 s (early shape duck tail spoiler/chin spoler) but with 3.2 and G50 gearbox upgrade, and of course decent Fuchs polished rims, caged etc etc.  Allow $80k

Alternatively just get Alfaholics to build me up a GTA - R for around $100K as the race car.

and Ferrari 246 GT Dino (weekend toy), $230K

Damn that leaves me $170K in the pocket, oh dear how tough, might just have to go over the 3 car limit, add a Giuletta spider (say $50K), Fiat Dino coupe 2.0 $25K (one currently avail on carsales), still leaves me $95K, I know a decent garage, well that should cost me $40K after that might just have to add to the wine cellar bigtime so that at the end of a fang I could just sit down admire their form over a glass or three of some pretty decent wine.

Oh bugger it, what about my perfect Giulia Super, 1750 GTV, my early 124 sport, or even the elusive 1750 Berlina I wonder if there might be a few $$ left for such things.

$100k budget.

Daily Driver: 1988 Bentley Turbo R

How Much: $37,000

Race Car: 1964 Giulia Super Ti (clone)
Here's why: Historic Alfas are great, you can run in Club events, 6 Hours, Historics, Veloce Racing Assoc events, and if you were super keen you could run in Targa events too.  And four-door racecars are cooler.
How much: $33,000 (I had to make my racecar a bit cheaper than Phils, I'll paint it myself or something)
Link: none

w/e car:
yes, 77-82 porsche 911 - but i would want one to restore - ~ $18-22k
restoration budget ~ $20k

I forgot the cut price Fantasy garage for $100K

Hmn now let me think and to be different from my last lot,  So:

Daily driver, I think a '86 Porsche 944 Turbo would be an interesting choice, have driven them and liked them a lot, allow $20K, you can find them for more and for less.

Competition car, this time, perhaps a Giulia Super Ti-R, couldn't afford a full Alfaholics version as that would blow the entire budget, so a lower spec example.  Allow $50K

Leaves me with $30K, so I might have a Fezza 400i Manual, (nice to have some V12 power, just glad I don't really have to pay for the fuel), in black for $30K, there is one currently for sale on carsales that has been steadily coming down in price, right spec and with some haggling if quick could get it, the current owner mentions that he is about to take a deposit.
