Hi all,

Not sure if This qs has been asked/ answered previously, but is the 156 v6 auto transmission the same as the salespeed in the 4 cylinder??

Also, how would you rate the v6 auto for reliability?

Thanks in advance

no. the v6 auto is a 4sp aisin conventional planetary gear/torque converter box (japan) with a H gate gear selector to choose your own ratio.

selespeed is a hydro-actuated robot on top of a regular manual box with a std dry single-plate clutch that operates the clutch and gear selector like normal. the sele has known issues.

v6 engine is reliable long lived unit as long as it is serviced - it is a real alfa engine made in the arese plant.

the 4 cyl TS is made by fiat, and has a list of known issues such as slipping the timing belt, and big end bearing failures. it's a 4 banger built very much to a price (iron block).

in the reliability stakes, IMHO, the v6 auto wins it hands down. No known issues per se, but the v6 requires maintenance to keep it, and therefore you, happy.

the 4, possibly even moreso, but that won't guarantee it'll behave...
