Hi all Alfisti,
I am a prospective owner and I would like to tap into the resource that is AROCA.
I have been without a classic car for the past ten years as I worked through my motorcycle phase. I love bikes but I have been bitten by the classic car bug once again.
The car that has attracted me the most is the Alfa 105 series. Please be tolerant of my limited nomenclature knowledge (this would be my first Alfa!) but I mean the 1750, 2000 GTV coupes. I think these have all the features that attract me to a car. Excellent styling, advanced (for the time) design, fantastic twin cam alloy engines, competent suspension, lovely interiors.. the list goes on.
So, the intent of my post is firstly to say hi! Secondly I was wondering if there may be an owner of a 105 coupe type car somewhere near Bundaberg who might be willing to show their car off. I think I would need have a sit in one as I am on the lanky side to see if I fitted!
So please keep me in mind if you know of a good example of the 105 on the market, and please, if you live within a couple of hours of Bundy send me a pm if you would be happy to show me your car.
Thanks all. Sean

Hi Sean,
There are a few 105 series cars lurking in my sheds, not too mention a GTV6 and several FIAT's.
The 105's are in various states of repair/restoration but your more than welcome to take a look some time.
Also another family in the area with multiple Alfa ownship between them.
When your ready get back to me and I've give you my details. I'm in Sharon.

Regards,
Peter

I take it that you have checked the ones out on carsales.com.au  I havn't looked too recently but I think you would find there are likely to be around 10-15 examples of 1750/2L cars available.  Then there are of course 1600 and 1300 flush and stepnose models.  Should be a good starting point for your hunt I would have thought.
Current:
2003 JTS 156 sportwagon
1969 Giulia sedan (x2)
1969 AC Fiat 124 sport

Past: '76 Alfetta 1.8 GT
        '76 Alfetta 1.8 Sedan
        ' 73 2L Berlina

Hi guys,

Yes, I have looked at carsales, it's a bit like an addiction. :)

There is an excellent range of cars there to look at. Just none in Qld at the moment. I am not adverse to travelling interstate, but I'm just a little busy right now.

I have been researching the family of 105 type cars to see which ones I like the best.

Thanks Peter for the offer to look around your shed. That sounds great. I was also looking at a Fiat 124 sport as an option but I thought the Alfa was prettier.

Hi,
I would personally endorse the cars David has recommended (no financial interest). I know the owner and the mechanic in Sydney who works on the cars and they are sorted. Trust me, you need this peace of mind. If the car needs anything for blue slip/RWC Emmanuel would likely sort it. He is exteremly ethical.

Thanks for the info guys!

I am still undecided on what is the best type of 105 for me. There seems to me a few choices. Exterior and interior styling differences, engine capacities (which may alter the driving experience) plus colours.

At this stage I am looking for a car which would be suited to frequent driving that isn't concour standard but is well presented with minimal rust.

My first task is to see as many in the metal as I can. I have a couple to opportunities coming up which has me quite excited.

Soon I should have narrowed done exactly what I'm after and hopefully be able to recognise a good one.

I will certainly be looking very hard at any club members cars as I am confident they will be presented honestly and priced fairly.

Cheers

Sean
