GT hatch gas struts.

Quick question.
When I hit the button to unlock the hatch on our 2010 GT, the hatch unlocks but doesn't rise at all requiring me to slip my fingertips into the gap and lift it.
I'm assuming that when unlocked the hatch should rise at least enough to get my hand under it.
Am I correct here and if so is there a local source for replacement struts?

Mine is the same.  100,000kms.   No idea if it's supposed to rise at all, though I'm guessing not.   Otherwise you could accidentally hit the switch and the hatch would open fully into some overhead obstruction, and you wouldn't have time to get out and stop it.  I do note that the bumper at the lower corners of the lid seem to have slight scallops so the gap is larger.   Maybe to drain water, or maybe to get a pinkie in there.

On the wagon the struts only hold it up. There are two spring mounted rubber "pushers" which push the tailgate away a cm or so to let you get your fingers under.

Thanks Craig,
The 'pushers' were wound tight in.
Wound them out about 12mm and now the boot lifts enough to easily get my fingers in to lift it.
