Title: Hi all
Post by: extraball on June 17, 2013, 07:37:22 PM
Hi all, the alfa bug has bitten, and I find myself wanting a 147 twin spark manual 2001-2005. I love the look, the way it drives, fits my budget to purchase, but am concerned about servicing costs.

welcome to the forum Extraball! I too own a 147 twin spark (2004) so far its been pretty economical to service compared to any other car from the same era - just be sure to maintain it at the correct intervals, the 147 is a zippy fun drive. The main thing of note is the cam belt intervals must be adhered to every 60000 km or 3 years which ever comes first. All of the club sponsor mechanics can easily do this service and will give you lots of friendly advice along the way, good luck in your search!

Some say cam belts are 3 years or 50,000klms or whatever comes first, the twin spark 156's in the early years were 60,000klms or 4years......until they had all the timing gear failures, should be a sticker in your service book and or on the if original windscreen, make sure you check the oil every week, they like a drink and use 10-40 fully synthetic racing oil of your favourite brand, Colin.
