Hello fala4bolts, try cleaning the airflow meter, with the spray can cleaners that are available at Halfords, etc and see how it goes, Colin.

Dont ever spray you afm with any sort of spray expecially while running. they destroy the fine element in the sensor.

Best to have your checked for faults with a obd1/2 reader.

Don't spray it while it is running, remove it first, and give it a light spray with a cleaner for the purpose and don't use rags or anything to clean it, just spray and let it dry, and then put it back, Colin.

Wouldn't hurt to check for air leaks in the intake hoses. Best to take them off individual while your giving the AFM a clean and bend them around to check for cracks  especially in the folds and to be sure they're  secure on the pipe nozzles. What age are we dealing with? The intake runner couplings also get hard and brittle, though rarely leak. I take it it's just an idle issue? Runs ok otherwise?
