Title: TS Coils for the 105
Post by: Backto105 on October 26, 2014, 12:06:04 PM
Hi All,

I need a couple of NEW Bosch ignition coils for a late eighties 75 TS motor.

Any suggestions as to the best place to get them?

Thanks

Mark

Not sure if anyone has any "NOS" but I suspect unobtanium. They are very low primary resistance and iirc a few years back Bosch were helpfully listing an E core coil as a replacement - which is fine electrically, but not terribly original looking... I ended up replacing with Bosch BIC290s. This coil is common, used as a generic "transistor ignition" replacement coil for cars including 2L Ford Telstar/626... Slightly higher primary resistance. Physically it is the same as original externally so fits fine. In practice it works well. Not claiming to be an ignition expert but I know enough theory to be downright dangerous and its nice when practice seems to support the theory - it hasn't given me any trouble including being thrashed on track.

Original part (Bosch 0 221 122 344) still *seems* to be kicking around here and there on the interweb but at around $80 a coil...
