Title: New owner
Post by: David290361 on July 11, 2015, 12:08:32 PM
Hi All,

I, or rather my daughter, is the owner of a 2007 159 wagon. 2.4l Diesel.

Lovely little car. We now have a small problem though. This is why I have joined this forum.

Cheers,

David Whitehead

Welcome David and Daughter, must be the best looking wagon around the 159.
Get the 159 serviced by an Alfa Romeo Service Provider, that work on these cars all the time, don't go to a franchised dealer who work on Corolla's and Mazda 3's.
The Alfa Romeo Specialists have all the knowledge and tools to handle the servicing requirements.
Consider also, joining your local division of the Alfa Club, enjoy your car, Colin.

Hi Craig_m67,

Problem was posted in a separate post. I'd hyperlink it if I were more computer savvy. It is to do with "oil change" error message.

I'll duck off and find it now...........................

Welcome David, auto or manual?

HI Evan,

It is an automatic. 6 speed Aisan box, supposedly the same as the one in my Citroen C5. It drives completely differently to my car though.

I was concerned with the Citroen as it seemed to act like a CVT whereas in the Alfa it doesn't. Citroen seems to slip a bit. When throttle is applied, instead of downshifting, engine RPM increases immediately with no discernable increase in speed, until the transmission "catches up" with the engine.

Citroen is a larger heavier car however. The Citroen was pronounced normal by a dealer. We did a 12000 km trip with it like that. No problems.

Back to the Alfa, booked in with a bloke in Wangara tomorrow.

Cheers

I drove a 2.4JTDm with the 6 speed auto once, it was brilliant to drive.  I'd have been quite happy with an auto in our 159, but the wife insisted upon a manual.  She likes to be in control of the gears.

Hope it treats you well from here!
