Title: 156 windscreen wipers
Post by: len105 on November 09, 2008, 06:35:47 PM
Hi guys

It rained yesterday so the wipers were used for the first time - suffice to say that as the rubbers swished across the windscreen, they jumped a lot - like they were sticking to the glass - and made a lot of noise. This happenned whether there was lots of rain on the screen or just a little bit - and made no difference whether high or low speed was selected.

Any suggestions on an easy fix ??

Chances are clean the windscreen really well and replace wiper blades will fix it.

Thanks Thmpar for your prompt reply - as the rubbers are supposedly 'new', perhaps they are not ? I thought the same as you, but, seeking a second opinion, and as the forum has far many more experienced Alfisti than me amongst the flock, I thought that I should seek further counsel.

I shall buy some replacements & report back.

I put relatively expensive silicon wiper blades on a car and they were noisey and just dragged across the screen.  Only with lots of water added did they seem to function.  So they went in the bin !

Good rubber ones are the go, but if no improvement, change the wiper arm instead of the blade.

Regards.

It's a miracle !! Gave the screen a wipe with a 'special cloth' - waited for the rain - dreading the moment it started to dribble again - pause - pause - but hey presto - the wipers stopped misbehaving - no more jumping across the screen ! ! Maybe the blades were new after all & needed some TLC before they performed ??!! Wish all the Alfisti moments were this effortlesly fixed !!

Many thanks to Thmpr & John H for their input..........
