Hey Guys an Gals.
Just finished dropping the engine into my 116 1980 GTV.
The engine seems to "lean" to the left. About 20mm lower than the Right hand side
New Engine mounts installed and the engine is square in the engine bay.
Of course i didn't take a before pic so i can't recall if this is standard.
And i'd post a pic but seems like i cant do that either :o
Any advice would be appretiated
Dave
Hi Dave,
That is all quite correct for those engines in all applications. Uphill to the coolant exit side (carby side) is utilized to exit any air or steam pockets out of the cylinder head. You will also find it sits higher at the front than the rear as well for the same reason. The clue is in the sump shape where the bottom is pretty much level when the engine itself is fitted with all the visual odd angles.
Vin,
Thanks for the info.
I'ts been almost 35 years since i was an AROCA member... but your name seems familiar for some reason.
Again Cheers
Dave
