hi to all,
Please can someone confirm the govern Max RPM on a 3.2 buss v6 in a GT.
I've read [internets] that it's 6,800 but will hold 7,000 for 5seconds before the limiter kicks in. That said, this version of eLearn says 6,200.

thank you Craig_m67.
I had my Alfetta GTV6 3.2 at a engine tuner and he rev'ed my buss v6 to 8116 +rpm and seized the engine. All the mains and big ends had seized. :'(
Road tests of the 156 GTA state the redline is 7000rpm.
Sorry to hear of you engine tuners mistake. Hopefully they pony up for the replacement parts and labour.
My 2004 3.2 GT revved happily to the 7000 mark (no more), but the diff wasn't too keen on this and shattered. I replaced it with the much better Q2 diff and no problems since.

The Busso in stock form was never designed to be a a RPM screamer, taking it to over 8000 RPM without the engine having been strengthened first seems a tad reckless.
Which engine tuner would this have been?
Geez Alfaaa, that's a shocking turn of events. Did they let the work experience kid run the dyno test? Hope the shop took full responsibility. Aside from that I am aware of guy in Sydney who has a running rebuilt 3.2 from a GT available for sale (at least he did when I thought I'd killed my GTA in May - happily it was just a failed injector so not needed in the end). I can pass you his details if you want them.
Not that its relevant, But I've never taken my GTA much over 6,000rpm (I've never dynoed it, and never tracked it either, but the prior owner certainly did).
I'd be checking the main crank nut is tight. It's very unlikely that revving to 8200rpm would cause all the bearings to seize. The oil pump chain is driven by friction, there is no key way so if the crank nut is loose the drive gear will slip and you'll have no oil pressure.
Hi Guys Just Giving an update , I had fitted another 3.2 Busso v6 out of a 147GTA.
Its all fixed and Running Great.
I would like to thank Peter from Boost Tech Performance.
Really helped me out.
Sorry I cannot attach a photo as the system won't let me.
