We will be needing a new club venue very soon due to closure of the function room at Bell's Hotel.
Now a few excellent locations have been put forward that include Veneto Club (Bulleen) , Rosstown Hotel (Carnegie) and also the Tower Hotel (Camberwell).
Does anyone have any other suggestions - just in case there is a prize location with a good meeting room, good well priced food in the bistro, perhaps a car park as that's a bonus. Suggestions will be considered by the committee asap. I found the Malvern Vale could be a suitable option.

Cheers.
Well Malvern Vale has Bingo every Wednesday so they are out as no function room.
But just given a message with this suggestion. Abruzzo Club in Brunswick.

It has a car park, sort of central, check out the links, restaurant, menu prices etc .. impressive!
But also good reports about the Rosstown Hotel on Dandenong Road, Carnegie. Central location (actually near the centre of the urban spread) and good food.
Milano's at Brighton Beach is superb, good food, function room etc. but too out of the way.
Hmmm...
I know that many of the members live in the Eastern suburbs, but Carnegie is a fair way away for me still.
The choices so far are;
Buleen (50.7 km)
Carnegie (47.3 km)
Camberwell (44.7 km)
Malvern (43.7 km)
Or...
South Melbourne (33.6 km)
So central to the urban sprawl is one thing, but central to the members is another. It's not just the extra drive home, it's the drive to the venue from work (Fishermans Bend) that adds to the unappealingness of these venues.
I like the idea of a city location, surely there is a nice venue in or around the city?
Just my 2c worth

What about the RACV city club ?
Apparently they charge like wounded bulls for the rooms.
A function centre with function centre prices.
Stuart, good point about accessability, main roads & freeway access, central to members etc ...
In those terms, South Melbourne or Port Melbourne is indeed ideal.
I'm on the committe of the MX-5 Club and we use the Albert Park Sailing Club. http://albertsc.org.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=104&Itemid=91
Nice venue, central location and plenty of parking. The only area on your list it falls down on is that there isn't food on site, although there is a small SPAM. I'm not sure what there availablities are, but I know we have the 2nd Wednesday of each month booked so may not suit.
In Qld Shannons have a club room that we use, as far as i know the only cost is a 1 page ad in the magazine. There is no food so the club supplies Pizza's or a Sausage Sizzle. There is plenty of parking and a garage for showing cars.
Forgot to mention there is tea and coffee and Large screen video access as well.
Shannons have mentioned that in the past as their Vic showroom is always open for car clubs.
New info. Went to the Rising Sun Hotel last night as this location was recommended by a few club members. Importantly it is very close to Bells Hotel so we may be keeping the club nights in the same area.

The pub is warm and comfortable, reasonably priced food & extensive wine list. Has a well presented function room for say up to 70 with bar, projector, facilities, fireplace etc. I am assured that parking after 6.00 pm is available as many office buildings in the street.
A bit like waht Bell's used to be in 'the old days'. (sorry about that Billy !)
Cheers.
havn't been there, but looks pretty good from the website, any idea what they charge for the function room?
$120 for the room. Could be a bit more for a wedding though!
I could see that a few other clubs currently meeting at Bells may relocate there. The upstairs function room at Bells is a bit small for us.
I think we have found a winner, the sooner the better ... pretty difficult listening when the punters are cheering on the dishlickers in the TAB through the open door.
Don't forget the noise of the pokies once the room is opened, plus the thru traffic of hopefuls looking for financial fulfilment.
