Title: 156 JTS Pinging / Detonation issue
Post by: Pendejo on August 16, 2010, 10:44:50 PM
Hi, the car is a 156 2.0L JTS and it is pinging quite noticeably when the accelerator is pushed down anything over half way to the floor, even when running 98 RON BP Ultima in it.

I believe these engines are supposed to have knock sensors in them to stop this from happening but still it does.  I've read that it is also probably a result of the fuel mixture running too lean.  Maybe the ECU needs remapping or something.

Anyone ever come across this?

Thanks.

unlikely, ur ecu never needs mapping...but this could be a variety of things, most likely bad MAF... try cleaning it and reinstalling, see if that improves things for a while...
