Title: Lapsed former member returning
Post by: tjb0274 on November 11, 2010, 12:22:37 PM
Hi to all....

I was an AROCA Vic member from the early 90s through to around 2000, but let my membership lapse when I stopped driving my Alfas regularly.

After much prompting by friends and family I've finally got around to getting the minor work done to put my Ricciardi back on the road. Anyone who's been by Hugh Harrington's workshop in recent months may have seen it there, as Hugh has been doing a great job of fettling it and sorting out all the minor issues arising from 5 years of storage.

Anyway, Hugh assures me it will be ready to go by the end of the week, so all being equal it'll be at the Spettacolo this weekend - probably lurking amongst the 105s. Look forward to meeting lots of people there!

Welcome back to the club.

See you and your Riccardi on Sunday as that makes two Ricciadi's on the day so you can both have a special spot.  (to be advised)

Thanks John - I'm the one that rang you earlier in the week to enquire, just to check that you're not counting me twice  :)

Coincidentally, just had a call from Hugh and he's not 100% sure of getting the car back together in time, although he'll try. I'm also a little concerned about the weather - the car is a handful in the rain - but if it's ready by Saturday afternoon I'll do my best to be there!

Well, I made it to Spetacolo but the Ricciardi didn't.... Hugh put the brakes back together yesterday, but they're sticking on so the master cylinder has to come out again. Drove down in my 206Gti instead, and hid it far from the park  :)

No sign of the other Ricciardi either. Hopefully we'll get them both in the same place at some stage - it will be interesting to compare notes.

Had a great time at the Spetacolo - saw a few cars I recognise from years ago, and a few (like the red Superleggera 1900) that I've previously only seen in magazine articles. If I got to pick a car to take home, it would be either that 1900 or the TZ, I think.

Really missing both my Alfas after listening to that unique Alfa exhaust note all afternoon - driving the Pug home felt like a let down!
