Title: Hi all
Post by: Canberrien on November 24, 2010, 10:33:10 PM
Hello everybody, fellow Alfa enthusiasts.

As my name suggests I'm from Canberra and although I don't yet own an Alfa I'm currently in the market. Ultimately I'm after a GTV6, my dream car, but given my current financial situation (uni student, read: poor as dirt) I'm looking at almost any model. There's just something about the idea of owning an Alfa, not that I'd have to explain that to you guys. Anyway, I look forward to joining this community of like-minded Alfa nuts. :D

Hi,

Best of luck making the transition to Alfa owner. I'm sure you'll get something out of the forum.

Cheers.

Hi there.

There are plenty of relatively cheap Alfas around and even some of the modern ones around $8k, that is a 156 Twin Spark manual.

Just make sure that they have service history and you get a pre-purchase inspection. A $100 can potentially $1000's in grief.  A poorly maintained car is rather unforgiving.

If you are looking at the GTV from 1998 onwards, I just learnt that the spider has same suspension set up as the GTV - passive rear wheel steer.

Cheers

Welcome with a word of caution.
Alfa + student with hole in pocket = St Vincent De Paul Candidate.

Make careful selection with good advisor.
