I know I have asked in a previous post and received excellent response.
This time, I would like to ask the same question but with a poll, this will help us in gauging numbers and what you want to attract you to come to compete.
Question is: will you attend and compete and in which categories.
Of course, invitation open to all Alfisti's who want to attend, interstate and international.
If you know of others who are interested but not on website, help them to vote.
Cheers
Neil
I will open the vote with Historic Racing and Sprint for ourselves.
Constructive comments, suggestions, assistance of help, anything which will make this event happen will be appreciated, welcomed here and can be placed here.
Of course, many many officials are needed, so if you can do a job or know of anyone who can, dobbed them in.
If you can bring someone who can help and you compete, fantastic.
Neil
Just to explain categories and hope it helps.
Regularity: suited to all Alfa's especially older ones, also for drivers who are not wanting to be competitive.
Sprint: suited to all Alfa's especially standard ones, driving against the clock for your best lap time.
Historic Racing: Any Alfa which is logbooked as Historic
Open Racing: Any Alfa which is equipped with a cage (minimum half or full, to be determined), under and over 2L
Special Alfa Class: Pre-war, post-war, just special ones, for demonstration purpose
Neil, I think it would be better to combine 'historic' racing and 'non historic' racing so that have decent size fields. I would be good to have the parts of the sup regs that pertain to roll cage and other substantive requirements at least 6 months in advance so that we can prepare.

My vote included open racing - assuming that we could get permission to run AASA again.
It may be a good opportunity for the vics to hold and promote the East Coast Challenge as the feature event of the weekend. Hopefully uniting all 3 states for the good of the series. Doug
It is with great regret to announce, following on from a committee discussion, that Alfa Island II March 2012 wouldn't be proceeding ahead.
Many reasons contributed to the decision. Some are as follow:
1) The financial uncertainty of the event which would be a burden on the club and a risk which the club could not take on.
2) The lack of a suitable event permit allowing open Alfa racing. This is the biggest killer.
3) The struggle for sufficient Alfa entrants to make the event viable. Another killer.
4) Increased cost per entrants due to lower numbers.
5) The time frame to promote the event
Despite not proceeding ahead with the event, the prospect of another Alfa Island is still alive, perhaps in 2014, but the thing which needs to happen is to rejuvenate the Alfa racing spirit all around and build up to 2014.
The one good thing which I heard is happening is the migration of the East Coast Challenge south, to Winton possibly for a round of all Alfa Racing, keep an eye on that.
I would urge all Alfa racers to support this and perhaps one day we will have an ECC at Phillip Island.
Regards
Neil
An added note, any comments, suggestions, help, etc etc, please note here, collectively we can all help to make this viable, one day.
Cheers
Neil
I know that decision wasn't reached lightly . Makes the memory of the the original event even more special.

Neil,
Sorry to hear its not happening.
How many entrants does it take to make it viable / at what sort of entrant cost and how many were you reasonably confident of?
Darryl and all
To give you some ideas.
We need around 150 entrants. Entry fee was to be kept at the cost of standard two day sprints which is about $500. Given it is Phillip Island it is worth it and that's the price you have to pay. But even at this level, we were still anticipating a significant loss.
We estimated 100 entries as optimiistic.
But the biggest killer was the appropriate permit was highly unachievable which eliminated a significant number of potential entrants especially from interstate, mostly the Open All Alfa racing category.
I can drum up the local Vic entrants but without a certain racing attraction, the intsrstate entrants were going to be a tough task.
That said, if all states can band up and work towards a gathering and we will work towards organizing another fantastic All Alfa event.
Regards
Neil
Next year we WILL have the VRA East Coast Challenge coming to Victoria, it will be at Winton. There are a few people doing some background work on this at the moment. I will start another thread on this once we have cemented a few more details.
It is imperative that we get as many VICTORIAN entrys as possible to this event, if this event is not supported, you can bet your bottom dollar that any future potential for another Alfa Island will go out the window.
So as sad as it is that another Alfa Island wont be happening next year, there are plenty of opportunities to race your Alfa with other Alfa's next year. Stay tuned for more 8)
