Hi,
I am looking to buy a 2005 / 2006 Alfa Romeo GT and would like some advice on whether to get the 2.0 or 3.2. How relevant is the extra power for mainly city driving?
def 3.2.... no contest... not just power, better engine and 6sp vs 5sp, and once a q2 diff is fitted (v6s only), game over!! 8)
Hi Leehew, i bought a gt 2005 jts selespeed and very very happy behond expectation, quality and refinement and quite zippy engine, obviously not as powerfull as the 3 ltr plus selespeed takes a bit getting used to,i think if your budget allows it,prob. 3 ltr man. would be way to go, but i am definitely very impressed in my purchase,my driving is mainly in city traffic thus my needs fit perfectly with the jts set up.Good luck in your purchase.
Its personal choice for engine \ gearbox combos, make sure its got a good service record, and that the cambelts have been changed on time and the oil changes haven't been skipped, get it checked out by an Alfa Romeo Specialist, and talk to the place that serviced during its life, you can even connect it up to an Alfa diagnostic machine to see if it has any issues, such as number of overrevs, Colin.
I go with Colcol's comments.
If you like the 2.0 lt JTS that's ok. If you want the v6 experience, go for a 3.2lt.
Everday motoring aside, Wanski did mention that an aftermarket Q2 dif is necessary and does make a noticable difference with power delivery to the front wheels.
Cheers
Thanks for all the advice guys. It took me a while but I am now the new owner of a 2006 GT 2.0 JTS Selespeed.
Really happy with the purchase as it is a great car to drive.
Cheers.
