Hi folks, first time poster here but a long time Alfa lover having owned 2 Alfa Suds a while ago.
I'm looking for a cheapish Alfa 75 V6, automatic if possible or any other automatic Alfa V6 for under $3500. Yeah, yeah, I know a true Alfista only drives manual but I'm getting too old and lazy to change gears. LOL!
Anyway, please leave me a PM if you have something you think I may be interested in. I live in Adelaide.
PS. I'm open to swaps as I have an immaculate 98 Mitsubishi Lancer GLXi 5 speed with air and power windows.
Check the SA alfa club site - classifieds section. 2 75 2.5's for sale - one auto :)
Hi. Thanks for that.
Hi cranberry,
Funny you should ask, because I bought a 1986 Alfa 75 2.5L V6 (automatic) from SA not too long ago. Drove it all the way back to Melbourne without any issue. I've been meaning to get it VIC registered since, but other committments keep getting in the way. What a car!! =)
PM me if you want to discuss further.
Regards,
tanakt...
There was one on gumtree
Yes this one: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/blackwood/cars/1989-alfa-romeo-75-auto-sedan/1003996611
Looks to be a pretty good price but the bit that worries me is the "ideal for restoration" statement.
Hi all,
I went to check this one out (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/blackwood/cars/1989-alfa-romeo-75-auto-sedan/1003996611)
Not too bad at all. Some of the panels are a bit faded but the car is very presentable overall with no visible rust and it drives quite nicely. Just a few things need attention:
1. Oil leak from the sump. Is this a big job to fix? Could it be oil from the top of the motor? I only noticed it at the end on my way out so I didn't really spend much time investigating.
2. Front seat pretty stuffed in terms of padding. Is it worth re-padding or am I better off getting another seat?
3. Air cond blows warm. Is this just a re-gas issue or could the air cond be stuffed? Do they suffer from compressor problems?
4. The oil light and temperature light are always on even though there are no problems with either the oil or temperature. What could be causing this?
Any help to identify the cause of these issues would be greatly appreciated in helping me make a decision on this car.
Cheers
Does it have to be a 75? You can get a Lot of Alfa 164 for $3.5K
1. Sump is pretty straight forward easy swap whether it be actual crack in sump or gasket, leak could be from anywhere, quite a few places for oil to leak from, usually just gaskets or seals
2. Whatever is the cheaper option is the better deal in regards to seats
3. I have been buying and driving Alfa Romeos for fifteen or more years, i have still not purchased one that has cold air conditioning, definantly not one of the 80s model Alfa Romeos strong points
4. Electrical or sensor problem, check wiring, clean connections check sender units
Looks good from the outside, $2200.00, mmm, only if registered, $1000.00 unregistered

Yes, a 164 would do me as well. It turns out this one is not a private import after all:

I may have to go and investigate a bit more.

You're a champ mate but the car is in Goolwa. I don't imagine you live close to there. Do you fancy checking out a 75 in Glenalta?
That 164 is not a QV, for a start a QV is a manual, he even states it is an a automatic, it is just a regular automatic 164 series 1 or 2 with a QV bodykit attached and the bumpers, skirts colour coded, most automatic 164s these days registered go for around $1000.00 to $1500.00, not to say that one is not worth it, looks tidy from the outside :).
Goolwa is around a two hour drive for me and glenalta is an hour
drive.com.au theres an auto 75
Hi POTENZIATA75
The only one I can see on drive.com.au is this one:
http://www.drive.com.au/used-cars/alfa+romeo/alfa+75/sydney/detail.aspx?id=36819266&lid=36819266&pg=1&pp=0&d=0&from=53
Bump... ???
Nobody selling? Would consider a 164 as well.
I may have to reconsider my auto requirement. Not many good ones around. Does this sound like a fair price for a rather nice 5 speed 156:
