Muffler for 1985 GTV6 what size and style suits best for track car?

Hi to all the great source of Alfa knowledge.

Can someone advise what the best diameter inlet size to use on an Alfa 2.5 12 v and 3.0 12v engine?
I am attending to my exhaust on my GTV 6 and wanting to upgrade the muffler to enhance performance.
The car will be 80% track use 20% road so leaning to best performance over noise and vibrations.
Also considering the option to have a muffler that is easily removable and replaced with a straight through pipe (track only). Does this work, will i get a little more power or possibly to much noise even for the track?

I have a 2.5 v6 currently but considering a 3.0 upgrade and want a muffler to suit both.

Straight through performance muffler 3 inch or 2.5 inch? 

As for the rest of the exhaust, I currently have the extended 3 pipe headers and will be fitting 2 x hotdog resonators.
I'm just wanting to know what muffler style and size suits best,

My plan is for the muffler outlet pipe to come straight out the back of the middle of the car and not do the do extended bend to the passenger side as per standard set up.

I have CSC headers - after the 3 into 1 it is 2.25" through hotdogs then 2 into 1 at 2.5". I started the engine swap over the weekend (yay! - putting in 3.0, keeping this exhaust) and dropped off the back muffler and fired her up, just to hear it. Farking loud in the shed!  ;D Bet the neighbors loved it - better than the doof doof crap at 4am we get from them anyway.

What it did tell me is that the back muffler is what shapes the way it sounds to the outside world. I have an unknown back muffler that is OK - but not quite the goods. Keen to hear what others might recommend on the back...
