Hi guys,
I have just purchased my first Alfa Romeo, a 2000 156 Selespeed, which I'm very excited about. It has been really well taken care of by its previous owner and I would like to keep it that wayso I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on this. More importantly, can anyone recommend me a reputable and reasonably priced place to get it serviced as I know I need to replace the timing belt in the near future.
Would appreciate any help you could offer.
Happy to be in the club!
Osman.

I suggest that you should only take your car to a Alfa Romeo specialist top service rthe car.  Also the selespeed unit needs to be reset correctly from time to time and it pays to have someone work on the car who understand the cars.

There area  few and they also may give a discount to club members so join up if you like.  There is:

Maranello Pur-Sang Motors in Brunswick.
Spencer St Autos in the city
Alfa Dinnini in Malvern East
Mauceri Morors in Clayton
Monza Motors in Bayswater.

A new one coming on board - Alfa Men in Footscray.

Also, Billy Goat Detailing is offering a good deal to members so get your car ready for our annual Spettacolo Concorso and Show'n Shine on 24 November .

Hi Osman,

Depends on where in Melbourne you're located.
If you're in the northern suburbs, there is Northern Alfa who is run by Vince Sartor in Thomastown. He's been recommended by a few people on here before

Vince is a honest and genuine mechanic, he did his apprenticeship at Alfa City back in the late 80's and has worked on anything Italian (Alfa, Fiat, Ferrari) ever since. I doubt you will find a nicer mechanic out there that will keep your car maintained the way you want it to. Many others will also agree.

His number is 0417 105 102

Thank you guys, I live in camberwell, so I already have arranged an appointment with Mauceri. Unfortunately,  today my 156 has given some headaches,  I've got the typical problem of selespeeds (as I have read in another forums) that it goes back to neutral everytime I bring the car to a stop and the only way to put it back Into 1st and make it run is by stepping on the brake and manually shifting into 1st gear before stepping into the accelerator to make sure it doesn't stall. Has anyone else experienced this?. Im quite disappointed but I hope this is a minor issue that it can be easily fixed,.
