Hi Everyone.

Have just recently purchased a light grey 1969 1750 GTV from down Frankston way. The interior is particularly original in a burgundy red colour and the car is a real credit to the previous owner.

Unfortunately the car was purchased by a third party between myself and the original owner and the third party was reluctant for me to make contact with the former owner.

I'm keen to get some history on the car and to have a better understanding of how it had been maintained so beautifully.

If you know of the owner and think he/she would be happy for me to call for a chat please ring me on 0403 389 585.

Thanks

Hey Super
Use Windows to shrink your pics.
Double click the .jpeg
Windows Picture manager should open.
Go edit pictures, go compress, Shrink to Doc or web size.
Go "save as" so as not to shrink your original,
and kerplunk! Your pic is shrunk and ready to post.
Like to see the pics as well.
Cheers

No information has come through.

Are their any other sources or sites I should be trying? How about the 105 section?!

Hi, I think I know the car as I live down Frankston way too.
An elderly gentleman, who I stopped to talk to on several occasions comparing notes on our special cars. I was always fond of the red trim with the series one seats. He owned the car for several years and drove it sparingly but correctly. His wife would complain that he would only drive the back way to the shops avoiding the traffic and would not leave the car unattended in the car park. I don't know what the circumstances were regarding the sale, but I'm sure he wasn't far from giving up driving when we last spoke. If it is the car the owner cared for it himself, but either way they are a very easy car to inspect and keep up to scratch if it is indeed not in perfect shape.

What a lovely piece of machinery, regardless of the history.

I especially love the seats, they look like the ones i had in my first Alfa, a Berlina. You could run them forward, roll them back into lay down position and the car then converted into a double bed with a handbrake in the middle - perfect for the drive-in.

And don't forget the mini eski between the back seats - room for a couple of vb's :-)

But seriously a beautiful looking example of the 105 gene pool.

Great looking 105! The interior looks great and in particular good condition, love the red.

Shame about the mirrors - would be worth picking up a second hand or reproduction pair they are reasonably easy to find these days. ( smaller round chrome mirrors )

It was one of the first cosmetic changes I made to my 105, plus the fact when you hit 80 - 90km the larger plastic mirrors folded in towards the body.

The car was listed on the AROCA Vic register as being owned by a former member C Hacche from 1979 onwards, I have no listing of when it was sold by him or have any contact details.

Thanks everyone - I've had some success.  I've been able to make contact with the son of the long-term owner.

The car was indeed much loved by the owner previous to last.  He meticulously cared for the dear old thing for 27 years from 1979 until earlier this year.  The sad part follows. In his mid 80's this chap suffered a short but serious bout of poor health and decided he should no longer drive.  The day after this decision he was approached by a tradesman fitting a roller-door to a next door property.  A conversation over the vehicle ensued.  The tradesman looking for a bargain asked if the old guy would be prepared to sell. Still in grief over his inability to drive and not knowing the market he asked $3,500.  The tradesman beat him down to $3000 without a roadworthy. The next day the car was on the market for $15,000.  It sold quickly.

Of course, upon reflection the old guy has been devastated.  As you'd expect, the box full of receipts and maintenance books are 'no longer available'. I've offered to hand over the car to the son of the previous owner from time to time so he can take his dad out for a spin but naturally there is a sad resignation that his 'baby' is gone.  There should be a law against it!  Please warn your senior family and friends to be careful!

Thanks again.

Sorry to hear the records of the car are gone but the car looks great. I have a 69 GTV 1750 Series 1 and original plates are KGG 220 so a close relative of yours! I too do not have the history on my car as the car spent 19 years disasembled on a shed and then the owner passed away. Wife threw papers away and then sold car!!!!

Might see you out at a club day! Happy motoring.

Regards
Paul
