Hello!  I have a 2012 Giulietta 1.4 turbo petrol engine.  Alfa recommend Selina Oil (of course) but I can buy the same grade oil (according to the book and according to the Penrite's website) for a cheaper price from Penrite.  Penrite reckon it is suitable for my Giulie.   Is it worth it to use the Penrite?  Sarah

Hi Sarah, I use Penrite oil in my 147 Twin Spark and it seems to be quite good. I think as long as you use a good quality synthetic oil of the correct grade you will not have any problems.

Penrite is a good oil and any oil of same specification would be fine. Castrol edge sport is quality oil too.  I have Penrite in my car at the moment and it was supplied by an Alfa specialist workshop.

So if a top up or time for a service, you have a range of non selenia options.

You can use Penrite Enviro 5w40. There are others that are also suitable like Castrol Magnatec Diesel 5w40 which is good value. If you want something better that these there is a new Castrol Edge 0w40 with the correct specifications also. Note there are 2 Edge 0w40 products on the market, you need to use the correct one.

Dont be put off by diesel in the name. All of the oils above are equally suitable for petrol and diesel.
