Hi all, I'm about to tackle the task of rubbing down the little coupe in preparation for a respray, and was wondering what was the most effective method of sanding? I'm thinking a random orbital sander will be the go?

How many layers of paint and bog are you going through?

I ended up using a Blue Norton rapid strip disc - use it gently, removes material quickly,  always wear a mask, remove anything shiny or important first.

Make sure you get some sort of epoxy primer (out of a spray can if need be) on it quickly to limit flash rusting

I reckon there's at least one respray, not too much filler though.

Dad uses those rapid strip discs too. Really good for taking everything off fast. Started using it after exploding a grinding disc on an unknown lead filled repair. Apparently lead doesn't grind off...

Don't use a strip disc if you're not planning to go bare metal, the orbital is a much better idea if that's the case.

Don't forget you're about to generate copious amounts of dust too, which will cover everything in your garage if you're doing it in there - a good idea to at least cover some things up, if you can't push it outside or something.
