the idea behind it is...
if i get enough punters to enter their rwhp with the brand of dyno and disclose their mods
you can graph it and average it .So what I hear you say ?
Well its saves people including myself alot of time and money to know which mods work
and which are minimal and what gives bang for bucks
or at the other end what have they got that i dont ??
Its my statisical nature Just love figures 36-22-34 not great hp
but great figures none the less

well I was just reading the lastest alfa magazine,
and Canberra just had a dyno day at a Dynamics centre
interesting !
the Sud with the twin cam 1.7 produced 88.3 KW (123.5hp)
yet at the mainline a very well tuned one with port and polished head only
produced 86hprw( almoist 40hp less)
standard they produced between 95 and 101Kw pending model
I believe thats probably a corrected figure where they guess the correctrion for the flywheel
in this case around 20% loss
because at 80% thats 98.8 hprw  take away the diff between mainline and the dynamics of approx 16hp
and you get remarkably 83hprw which I have to say is still brilliant

our 3.2 GTs were between 146 hprw and 185 hprw 22% diff pending tune
dyanmics has it at 146 kw(204.4hp) apply the 20% and the diff between the dynos  and we get 147.5
SO whats it all mean?
it means its an inexact science that unless you tune and go back to the same dyno with 2hours with same temperature using the same operator it is almost impossible to compare with any accuracy
Why does this happen ?
various reasons, mainly so you feel happy and come back
why do I care ?Im not really sure , but my therapist says its good to express anxieties

Spot on. They're a tuning aid, not a score card.

any more figures the graph is looking lumpy
