159 angel eyes legal in SA/ other states?

Just wonder if anyone has had any experience with putting angel eyes on their Alfa.

From the DPC website it appears there not legal because of the spacing. They must be minimum 600mm apart... or maybe that's the whole cluster. While it doesn't appear to say so I assume they must turn off when the headlights are turned on.

On BWMs are they actually DRLs or do they replace the headlights?
