1982 Silver 2000 Veloce Reg. BB-865F in "Currency Creek". Been for sale for some time, which is a little concerning. Would anyone have any knowledge of it? I'm in Melbourne and would prefer not to make a trip over to find out it's a new sills & floor pan project.

I can no longer resist the Always Looking For Another infection.

Al if you are prepared to go as far as SA, may as well go all the way west to Perth. This one is for sale at Cileberti Motors, the specialist workshop where I get my Alfas serviced. You can be comfortable that it will be as described and in good shape.

Hmm. Interesting. A flight from Melb to Perth's not much different to Adelaide (dunno about driving it back home). I was thinking the SA one's interior was not the colour I like, but looked in good nick so would be a bit of a waste to change it. The seat covers and dash carpet suggest that the the WA one requires a re-upholster. Engine bay looks pleasingly well maintained. I confess I'm also having heretical thoughts about a Fiat 124 spider in QLD in my ideal Red exterior and Tan interior.

Or on a second look has it just had an engine wash?

The owner is a winemaker that has a fairly extensive fleet of cars. I've seen the car in the flesh and it is immaculate. Thinking the price might just be a little rich.

What price do you think is more reasonable? - Genuine question. Poobah's link is to a very similar car for the same price, but as it has a dash mat & seat-covers and the rest of the interior looks a bit tatty so i suspect it may be un-restored. Then there's a Red & Tan Fiat spider (My favorite colour combo & I think a better looking car) for $22,00 in QLD. Some say they handle better too:

Would it be heresy to remove the USA Bumpers & that spoiler from the ALFA Spider, either replacing the bumpers with a th 70s type or some sort of custom panel work?

This looks promising, but could be tidier:
