Relocation

Hi All,

I will be relocated from Melbourne to Brisbane in January and will work there for few years. I am thinking to sell my car originally, but I found that it is pretty rush and no private sell market before end of the year.

Does anyone knows the transit fee for my Alfa to Brisbane? Do I need to get the QLD rego? Any good service centres there? Is "trade-in" a good option (I mean trade-in in Melbourne, and pick up a new / used car in Brisbane?

Just drive up mate. I can't think of a better way to relocate from Melbourne to Brisbane than to ship all your gear via removalists, pack a suitcase, throw it in the Alfa and set sail for the promised land!

I relocated from Sydney to Brisbane in 2001 and drove a 75 Twinspark via some great b roads and inland highways and had an absolute blast.

They are correct - road trip is the go.  Then sell/buy in Brisbane once all settled.

As you stated you purchase a new car, a trade in the price is negotiable and part of the package in determining change over price for a new car.

Once that price is determined,  you can still put the car up for sale/offers on the web (carpoint, carsales etc. ) or in the forum for sale as you can at least set the price a bit more and negotiate down.

A club member can then get the car at bit of a discount (above trade in) and you get more money.

I used Door-to-Door car carrying to get my car AND trailer from Newcastle after purchase - that cost me $800.  I found them really good to deal with.  I guess double that from Melbourne?  Worth a call.
