Hi, I'm interested in the Dellorto DRLA 36's Alfa 33's came with.
I drive a 83 Subaru Leone with a jap performance dual carb EA81 engine. (1800 push rod flat four). I'm in the process of making custom manifolds to bolt a carb on top of each head. I've been looking at what carbs to use and it looks like Weber IDF's or these "more user friendly" Dellorto carbs are a good option.

I have a couple of questions.
Is it easy to get jets, venturies etc for tuning these Dellorto carbs?
Do you think that they are a good option for me and my 101hp factory dual carb 1800cc F4?
Do you know where I could get some, preferable with the manifolds so I can use them to help me build custom manifolds?
Cheaper the better, and I'm quite capable of stripping them down and rebuilding/cleaning them.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

Hi Mr Subie

Either carby would probably do the job. If you check out Gem Parts Aust or MLP Carberettors On ebay, they would be able to get most parts you may need. MLP is in Reservoir Vic, not sure where Gem is based.

You may come across carbs from a 33 on ebay, or you could try the alfa specialist wreckers like Alfa Motor Spares in Thomastown, or some of the other club sponsors.

Be aware though, carbies that are used to being attached to an Alfa, may crack it if you hook them up to a Subaru engine :-)

Thanks Shane.

Does anyone know of any good Alfa wreckers in and around Adelaide?

Hi There,

Your best bet is to go see Marc or Vince at Milano Spares, 13 Tuscan crt Thomastown 3073.
They'll have a whole heap of Alfa 33 carbies lying around, maybe even a couple of 40's that came on the 1.7 twin carb 33.

What are these carbs like over the single carb on the 33's? Is the 40's really worth it over the 36's? 1700 and 1800 cc is a pretty small motor for twin 40 2bbl's I would of thought.
