Hi All,

I've been meaning to do this for years, but i'm finally taking the plunge into Alfa ownership.
I'm looking to buy a Brera, very soon, either 3.2 or 2.2 not sure yet, and have a few questions which i hope other members wouldn't mind answering for me.

Buy a different Alfa, either a later Giulietta/Giulia/Stelvio or an earlier 147/156 based car.

Why the disapproval towards the Brera?  ???

Because parts availability is crap....most of the parts are obsolete for the 159/Brera platfrom, come on Bazz you know this  :P

Brera (coupe or spider) is a beautiful thing, but heavy and not delicate to drive like a traditional Alfa.  It's based on a GM platform, and it shows when driving.

The earlier 156/147/GT/GTa models can handle beautifully, but the suspension is made of chocolate and wears out really quickly.  Parts for these seem better, but they're also getting on in age (I have a soft spot for the Sportwagon).

The Giulietta, Giulia and Stelvio are far, far better cars.  I'd avoid the multiair  Giulietta (only) as they seemed to have a fair few issues early on.  Get the 1750tbi QV, mine has 185K km on it, all flat out.. really hard to ignore how reliable this car has been.

Giulia and Stelvio are next generation again, I prefer hatches and wagons so it will be a Stelvio if/when ever I change.  Probably go the diesel with stupid all terrain tyres that I'll drive to the top of Cape York and point/laugh at all the Land Cruiser 300's

Tonale seems a PHEV odd duck with software issues.

Brera is a beautiful thing though (find a 1750tbi version)
