Please help me solve one of the great mysteries of my series 2 156.

On the wiper wand is a setting for the auto wiper feature, it's the first setting when you press the wand down. On the knob on the end of the wand there is the "AUTO" mark and also "I", "II" and "III". I assume these are manual override settings for the automatic wipers that alllow you to choose between three intermittent settings. However, when I've tried to change to these nothing happens. The wipers still seem to sweep at a random interval governed by the rain sensor.

Anyone worked this out?

I think all they do is change the sensitivity of the sensor.

No manual override with the auto wipers.

Hi Steve

Yes, that is what I found too.  They just change the sensitivity a bit which in  turn increases the frequency of the blade movement.  There isn't a lot of difference between them and the blade wiping an almost dry screen between showers so I find myself just flicking the selector up manually.  I think they could also do away with the fial wipe after using the washer too as the screen is usually too dry.
