Hi all, with Targa approaching fast we are very busy prepping the car, it got through it's log book inspection on last Friday and is going through pre-event scrutineering on sat morning, after a run at Winton on Friday.  We had a small oil leak from the back of the engine, it appeared to be the sump at first but after further inspection it was coming from behind the flywheel :(  So we pulled the gearbox of on Monday night, everything looked good, seal was in good condition the main oil gallery plug looked good and the cover plate was tight.  We had a new seal on order so we decided to pull the old one out and noticed a poor fit around the crankshaft we measured the crankshaft end to be 82mm.  When we received the new seal yesterday all became clear, the seal that was in the engine was for an 84mm ID (printed on the seal), the new correct seal had 82mm printed on it.  I thought I'd mention this on the forum for two reasons, the first being if you are assembling a new engine make sure you check the size of the new seals!!, and does anyone know how an 84mm seal would find it's way into a full 2L gasket kit? ???
