WTB - 75 A/C compressor (and brackets?)

Hi all,

While I checked that all of the important bits were there, turns out the ground I can see through my engine bay was where the aircon compressor used to live. I'm guessing the previous owner removed it for reasons involving power (or he's just crazy), nevertheless in 35 degree heat and 90% humidity it's kind of essential.

I'm chasing a unit to fit a 75 3.0 sedan, I'm assuming anything from a similar model will fit (2.5/ts), otherwise anyone know any aftermarket units that would work well? I'm assuming there are brackets to go with it or does it just hang from the leads? ;)

Cheers,
Michael

Go to an Alfa Romeo wrecker and get the brackets that go with it, when you get the compressor, ask if it has any warranty, take the compressor to an Automotive air conditioning specialist and get them to check it for tight spots and see if it has any compression, a new compressor is most likely worth $500 - $1,000, as the compressor is out, you may want to get new seals and a new clutch bearing and have the clutch shimed up so it has the right air gap, so it doesn't slip or not disengage, and you will have the problem of the original R12 refrigerant gas is no longer legally available, so you will have to get a replacement gas it all gets very complex, Colin.

Michael - I have what you need sitting in my garage. Compressor and brackets. The compressor was rebuilt years ago and never installed.

I'm away this week but home Sunday. Send me a pm if interested.

Colin, I had no idea it was so difficult, I'll take in what you said and put it to good use, thanks  ;D. Unfortunately I don't know of a specifically Alfa wrecker within about 1000km of me ):

PM sent Aggie.
