Amazing footage from a helmet-cam of a Corvette driver at Le Mans.  Load in HD and watch full-screen.  Very scary.  These Corvettes aren't slow, but it shows just how fast are the LMP cars that come past.

Just like the good old days of the Calder park twilight sprints.

having driven around the road section, the mulsanne straight is incredibly wide, which makes the spped even more impressive!

Hey Frank, one of the best times i ever had was a twilight meeting at Calder, with the Marque Sports Car Association, we started at about 4 in the afternoon, and sprinted in the light on the long circuit, then when it got dark, we sprinted on the short Calder layout, that is about 2/3 down the straight we would turn right and go through a second gear corner onto the back straight, when all the lights came on, it gave it a 'LE-CALDER' feel, with heaps of atmosphere, the flag points were manned, and they had 200 litre drums with firewood burning to keep warm, and this was 20 years before DIGIFLAGS, so we would shine a torch through the flag to warn of any danger, the sensation of driving around a floodlit track, trying to see where you were going with those good Alfa Romeo lights, and bonfires burning, so you knew where the flagpoints were, and after all that fun, when you think it couldn't get any better, you go out to a flag point, and on our point, they were cooking snags on the bonfire, how good was that, then at 11, it finished, we packed up and went home, and was home by midnight, someone should try to do a twilight event at Calder again, even though the lighting was quite expensive, a one off would be good, Colin.

And the Calder complex would look so much better in the dark.....so long as you don't fall into some of the cracks in the pavement! ;D
BTW, LeMans highlight package on today at 5.00pm on Ch1 maybe, only says LeMans 24, not what exactly.
