Gotta B Red

It's Off topic but concerns an Alfa.

Recently a scam appeared on that well known auction site were a very desirable model was offered at an absurdly low ball price.

The owner of the vehicle had no idea whatsoever, his pride and joy was being offered for sale ..... completely and totally unaware.

The seller of said vehicle was offshore and had built their own, quite accurate profile of the car from freely available material. The very kind of material and more's the point, the media, we might use when trying to advertise and or sell our cars, parts and or services.

In this instance images and data were used from when the current owner had bought the car himself, and I understand from when he once tried to sell the car but changed his mind.(Significant timeframe in between)

In short it's an identity theft,  but I'm certain things were made rather easy for the evil doers and that with a modicum of due diligence could have been avoided. Some technical measures can be applied, but how and where your images are sent should be very much your concern.

There are some other amusing aspects to this story that shall remain unsaid for the mo' but suffice to say it's likely a far better outcome than if a Harley had been offered for sale.
Cheers,
Andy
