Spettacolo Concorso
Saturday 11th November
Make your Alfa as good as it can be … and add to its value!
How? Prepare it for Spettacolo!
We all take pleasure and pride in owning an Alfa or two, or three, or more in some cases!
But setting aside the time to make a car as good as it can be is a challenge thanks to our busy lifestyles. Often the best way to prioritise a task – such as detailing your Alfa – is to bite the bullet and set a deadline.
Preparing your car for the Spettacolo competitions – Concorso or the Show & Shine – provides the perfect incentive for AROCA members.
Concorso
To help more Members enjoy the higher level of car display competition, we have extended the years for Concorso entry and added new Classes. Concorso will be judged on Saturday 11 November at Mauceri Motors workshop and entrants must display their cars at Spettacolo on Sunday 12 November when the winners will be announced.
Members with stand out examples of their Alfa model may choose the Concorso, which is judged on presentation and authenticity (except the Modified Class). This event will be judged on the day before Spettacolo – Saturday 11 November at Mauceri Motors.
Judges will inspect paint, chrome, detailing of the exterior, interior and boot, cleanliness and detailing of the engine bay, under wheel arches and – in the case of a tie – the chassis will be inspected on a hoist. All operating systems – lights, horn, wipers, etc – will be tested.
Concorso will be scored according to the International Chief Judge Advisory Group (ICJAG) system. This system has been used at Concorso in recent years and is used at most major Concours d'Elegance including Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, Villa d'Este, Blenheim Palace, Sydney Harbour and Motorclassica.
Concorso entry forms and payment details for the $80 entry fee will be advised soon. The new comprehensive Concorso Class structure is:
· Vintage – non-modified pre 1950.
· 1900, all 750 and 101 Giuliettas, 2000/2600 and TZ – non-modified.
· All 105s including Giulia, Coupe, Spider, Montreal – non-modified.
· All 930 Sud and 33 cars – non-modified.
· All 116 Alfettas – non-modified.
· All post 116 series cars – including pre-1998 cars eligible for historic permit plates – non-modified.
· Modern Classic – cars from 1998 to 2003 on full registration – non-modified.
· Modified – all cars modified in body, and/or interior and/or mechanicals. For example, fast road and race cars. NOTE: Modified cars will not meet authenticity and/or originality requirements for the non-modifies Classes.
· Preservation - This class is first judged for originality/authenticity – non-modified. Cars made before 2003 that are good clean, fully operational examples in well preserved original condition. This means roadworthy, safety, routine maintenance work and minor cosmetic/structural/ operational repairs to exterior, chassis, interior and mechanicals are permitted and must be noted on the entry form. Vehicles that are seriously deteriorated "barn finds," or static, non-running cars are not eligible.
Investing the energy and time in a thorough Concorso detailing of your car not only makes you feel proud to drive it and display it, that investment will add significantly to the car's value. Members with questions about Concorso are welcome to contact me, Barry, via email: arocaconcorso@gmail.com
